چکیده

This paper presents a simple formula relating multipath angular spread to small-scale fading statistics. This formula is then applied to nd an approximate spatial cross-correlation function for received voltage envelopes. The analytical approach is compared to 67 cross-correlation functions simulated with non-omnidirectional multipath. The equations in this paper provide insight for applying spatial diversity techniques to receivers operating in the presence of non-omnidirectional multipath.

Modeling and characterization of multipath fading channels in cellular mobile communication systems

Due to the enormous capacity and performance gains associated with the use of antenna arrays in wireless multi-input multi-output (MIMO) communication links, it is inevitable that these technologies will become an integral part of future systems. In order to assess the potential of such beam-oriented technologies, direct representation of the dispersion of multipath fading channel in angular an...

Wideband Measurements of Angle and Delay Dispersion for Outdoor and Indoor Peer-to-Peer Radio Channels at 1920 MHz

This paper presents spatio-temporal measurements for the peer-to-peer radio channel at a center frequency of 1920 MHz with 140 MHz of radio-frequency bandwidth. The measurements were taken using a spread-spectrum channel sounder and an automated spatial probing system that uses precise computer-controlled positioning and orientation of omnidirectional and directional (30 beamwidth) antennas to ...

Performance analysis of compact antenna arrays with MRC in correlated Nakagami fading channels

This paper presents the average error probability performance of a compact space diversity receiver for the reception of binary coherent and non-coherent modulation signals through a correlated Nakagami fading channel. Analytical expressions of the average BER are derived as a function of the covariance matrix of the multipath component signals at the antenna elements. Closed-form expressions f...

Comparison of angular spread for 6 and 60 GHz based on 3GPP standard

In an urban environment, a multipath propagation is one of the basic phenomena affecting a quality of received signals. This causes dispersions in time and angular domains. Basic parameters describing these dispersions are the rms delay spread and rms angle spread, respectively. The delay spread is related to a frequency of the transmitted signal and the nature of the propagation environment. I...

Infrared Wireless Communications using Complementary Sequence

The performance of an infrared wireless system using direct sequence spread spectrum techniques in multipath channels depends very much on the partial correlation properties of the spreading sequences used. Ideally, a spreading sequence should have zero sidelobes in its periodic and aperiodic auto-correlation functions in order to eliminate multipath dispersion. Unfortunately, no such ideal seq...
